Law Student Blog

also, a 2L at Tech who remains "somewhat anonymous" has pretty funny postings about the law school experience at Tech. I've linked it http://inlawschoolsendcards.blogspot.com/ so you can visit.

Break

I’m taking a quick break from working on my legal memo which will count 40% of my grade in Legal Practice to write this great story.

It was Abraham Lincoln’s habit to discourage unnecessary lawsuits, though it cost him a pretty penny. One day a man stormed into his office and demanded that he bring suit for $2.50 against a debtor. Lincoln gravely demanded ten dollars as a retainer. Half of this he gave to the poor defendant, who immediately confessed judgment and paid the $2.50. Thus the suit was terminated to the entire satisfaction of everyone concerned. (Galanter pg. 140)

Rotary Scholarship - Possible Countries

So we’re still waiting on our country assignment for Rotary. Our picks we submitted were as follows:

  1. Cork, Ireland

  2. Northern England

  3. Prague, Czech Republic

  4. Oslo, Norway

  5. Budapest, Hungary

All the choices have their own advantages and would be fun to live and study for the next year. We’ll just keep waiting anxiously and post our assignment as soon as we know.

Tuesday

Tuesday Humor

A lawyer was walking down the street and saw two cars crash into each other. Rushing over, he said, “I saw everything and I’ll take either side.”

Wedding

Here's one of the many pics from our wedding almost two years ago!!! I can't believe it. We had two people faint in our wedding and the video will be aired sometime by America's Funniest Home Videos. I'll post when they contact us to show it.

Friday

As a law student, I really appreciate lawyer jokes. So I thought I'd post one occasionally.

"Have you a lawyer?" asked the judge of the old man brought before him.
"No, sir I don't," the old man replied.
"Well, don't you think you need one?" inquired the judge.
"No, sir," said the man. "I don't need one because I am going to tell the truth."

Enjoy!

Back in Texas

After a successful year in Nashville, TN, we moved back to Texas in August to begin graduate studies at Texas Tech University. We LOVED it in Nashville, where Lindsay is originally from.

We're getting used to the size difference between ACU and Tech. Also, football is much bigger here, especially since Tech is undefeated so far and will be playing UT in Austin this weekend.

Law school requires a lot of reading and studying so I spend most of my time in the library. I can tell you all you need to know about which shelves will give you splinters and what areas have more A/C, etc.

Hello Friends and Family

We've started a blog for practice before heading overseas next year on a Rotary scholarship. We hope you enjoy the posts!
